BOROUGH OF HACKNEY
Hackney is a lively and up and coming area and is situated in the north-east of London. In the north of the borough is Stamford Hill & Stoke Newington which borders Haringey. Hackney is comprised of many areas which include Clapton Victoria Park, Shoreditch and Hoxton to name a few; these areas are just under a mile north of the River Thames and are bordered by the City of London, Islington and Tower Hamlets.

Hackney has 57 primary schools and 9 secondary schools which cater for pupils of all abilities and from a wide range of cultural backgrounds. There are a number of voluntary aided schools which cater for particular faiths and here the local education authority works with religious authorities. At secondary level there are single sex, as well as mixed, schools.
